Mission Statement

The Juvenile Court's vision is to achieve excellence by providing quality services for the positive development of children, the safety of the community and the preservation of the family unit.

The Juvenile Court's mission is to serve the community by assisting children and families in need and to protect the community by administering individual justice and deterring delinquent behavior through the court and community based services from the Programs arm of the Court and the Department of Juvenile Justice probation services.

Citizen Review Panels

In cooperation with the Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges, the Cherokee County Juvenile Court participates in the Permanent Homes for Children Program. Citizen volunteers meet monthly to review the case plans developed for children in foster care.

Agency Partners

DJJ Supervision and rehabilitation of juveniles found to be unruly or delinquent is provided by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice. This state agency has a local office in Canton that provides these services to youth adjudicated by the Court

DFACS The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Family and Children Services investigates charges of child abuse and neglect. This state agency also has a local office from which services are delivered.

CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates are volunteers appointed by the Court to advocate for the best interest of the children. The local Director is Deidre Hollands.
